Historical currency converter for auction research

AuctionMath's historical exchange rate calculator helps bidders, appraisers, dealers, estate professionals, and collectors compare auction results across currencies. Use it to translate sale prices, invoices, and comparable auction records into a selected currency for review. Reference exchange rates are provided for convenience and may differ from bank, card-network, payment processor, tax, shipping, or auction-house conversion rates.

Calculation and date behavior

The tool multiplies your amount by the selected historical rate. For example, if you are comparing a hypothetical 100-unit sale and the provider reports 1 source unit = 0.90 target units, the converted reference amount is 90 target units. Rates are requested from Frankfurter, which provides reference data rather than a payment or settlement quote. If the selected day has no rate, the provider may return an available date; check the “Rate date used” result before using it in a comparison.

Currency and comparison limitations

Historical reference rates do not include bank spreads, card-network rates, transfer charges, auction fees, taxes, or shipping. Currency availability and rate dates depend on the data provider. For a fair comparison of auction records, note the sale date, currency, rate date, and whether each sale price is a hammer amount or a buyer's-premium-inclusive total.
